After the success of the Pipe Band Festival, when our Club Volunteers did a fantastic job I felt that a Volunteer Register would be worth setting up. This would enable the club to call on these volunteers to carry out small or reasonable day to day maintenance tasks e.g. minor repairs, painting etc.
Already some volunteers are getting together to paint the changing rooms. Please sign up to the register, giving details of any skills that you might have to offer.

Many Thanks

The fourth Golf Society outing took place on Sunday 7th June at a dry Lurgan Golf Club. 18 took part with a few stalwarts partying en france. Some very good scores were returned. It was nice to see the winner complete 18 holes this time as Stephen Wray birdied the last hole to return with 40 points. Three players carded 37 pts, with the second nine deciding 2nd & 3rd places. Keith Jackson taking second and Alan Robinson third. Stanley Jelly missed out on the prizes with the poorer nine.
Next Outing – Sunday 5th July- Armagh G C – Tee off 9.45 am
Can all prize winners from last season, please as a matter of urgency , return all awards to the members bar or contact Brissy (o7810 883907) if the bar is closed.
We only have just over a week to sort this out and I do not want to have to tell this years recipients that there award has not been returned.
Many thanks
Brissy
On a day when the inconsistency of the weather matched some of the play in the Accies Seven aside Tournament, the Portadown squad played at a consistently high level throughout the day to win the tournament. With two guests from clubs in Dublin playing with the team, the boys won their section, beating a Kukuri Selection, two Omagh teams and a side from Stockport, to reach the Semi-final, where they met and matched a good BallymenaTeam. Having beaten Ballymena the Ports. then played and beat Malone in the final . There was a lot of praise from the knowledgeable spectators for high standard of sevens play by this Portadown Side. Dairmaid O’Kane finished up the top try scorer in the tournament with a total of thirteen tries. Full praise to the Accies for another excellently organised Tournament.

The second Golf Society outing took place on Sunday 5th April at a blustery Dungannon Golf Club. 24 took part and again some good scores were returned. Leading the pack was Kenny Guy with 38 points followed closely by Roy McAfee with the same points, only to lose out on the last 6. Andrew Grant took third.
Next Outing – Sunday 10th May – Omagh G C – Tee off 10.30 am
As you are aware the club has made a special effort over the past three years to employ a top experienced coach who has proved invaluable in turning the club around and pointing us in the right direction. We are delighted in how he has coached our players; our teams are now playing a standard of rugby hitherto unthought-of. In addition, our matches are once again exciting and competitive; a pleasure for our spectators. All of this would not have been possible without the additional expertise sought by the club. However, this expertise comes with a price. Portadown Rugby Club would like to invite you to help them with the cost of maintaining the standard of rugby to which we all have become accustomed, and of which we all should be extremely proud.
