Welcome to Portadown Rugby Club for the 2009-10 season. Whether you are a member of the club or a visitor for the day you are warmly invited to join us in the clubhouse after the match to share our traditional hospitality and the special bond of friendship that is unique to Rugby people.
Our first XV have started the season with a highly successful tour to Canada and, with some exciting new faces in the squad, are really looking forward to capitalising on an excellent performance last season following promotion to AIL 3 in 2008.
This year sees the introduction of an under 19 age group in Ulster Rugby and, with a long tradition of success in youth rugby in Portadown, we look forward to an exciting season for our U-19 team. With 2 players on the Ulster U-19 squad and 6 players on the Ulster U-17 squad the prospects look very bright.
No rugby club can function without its sponsors and, on behalf of the club, I would particularly like to thank each and every one of our club sponsors and advertisers for their enormous generosity. I would call upon everyone to acknowledge that fantastic support by favouring our sponsors with your support.
Likewise no club can function without its staff, committees and volunteers. Whether you are a club director or whether you lift glasses in the bar or paint a changing room, your help is valued enormously and is greatly appreciated – new helpers are always welcome!
Fund raising continues to be an enormous challenge. Please support the club in any way you can – by paying membership subs, taking a ticket in the club draw, attending the social functions, becoming a sponsor – every little helps!
Finally a word to all our players, captains, coaches and team managers from the youngest to the oldest – have a great season and, above all, enjoy your rugby!
